and how and how and how and how.

today marks the start of the countdown: 4 days to the exams, 3 days for the less optimistic among us. for me some things are coming together, but other things are not so coming together. even my vocab is going a bit funny. right now i'm just glad that there is something in that old brain of mine that has been working for what seems like an eternity squished between the markers of '84 and '04. sometimes i wonder how it takes it.

this will be the first essay i write under exam conditions in say, 2 years, and that's just a rough estimate. man, there are no words to describe how i'll feel when i get through this. come to think of it, the fact that so many people have gotten through it before me means that my chances of getting through that same system are probably quite high as well. nice parallels there, methinks.

and so dawned the nicest day durham has seen in the past 2 weeks. by that i mean that there was actually visible glare from the sun, who constantly tries to play hide and seek with us denizens in the world below. no call for sunglasses yet though, seeing that the weather is still trying to recalibrate itself. today was nice though, during the time i was out and about in town. by out and abouting i actually mean going to safeway and getting bread because i like it and it keeps fresh and it's cheap. so there. that's what i meant. if i meant real out and abouting then i wouldn't be participating in such menial duty. nothing against the decidedly non-menial people who like buying bread of course.

the amount of coffee i have been drinking is phenomenal, and to think that i wasn't much of a coffee drinker before the time i came to the land of the union jack and where, irony of ironies, the national drink is tea.

ah, so i remember. this is the second "battle royale" reference i've gotten this week, which means that this fringe really makes me look non-singaporean.

right. back to work for me. no rest for the wicked, so they say.
