today the few of us trooped down to adaeze's place for her niece's birthday. it was singularly one of the best events i've experienced in a long time. i mean, how long has it been since i got to attend a baby's first birthday party? no seriously, it was her first birthday party!

it was beautiful. she's such a pretty baby, and so well-behaved as well! gosh, i could go on gushing for hours about how cute and pretty and sweet she is, but that will just make me sound broody, which is bad. which is bad. which is bad.

besides that, we managed to sit in for one of the services at adaeze's church. there was this thing about making a prayer request, where you had to write your request down on a piece of paper and they would eventually reach the pastor. i was devoid of the writing implements and for some reason i was too shy anyway, so i didn't put my slip of paper in, but i made the request in my heart. i guess God heard it anyway. for some reason, even though my mind doesn't really believe it, my spirit believes that one day my request will come true, God willing.

right now i'm slightly less than halfway through book one of the gormenghast trilogy. it is quite an epic, suffice to say. but then again, i'm enjoying it, so leave me alone and don't criticise my choice of reading material!

back to my room now for some good reading time...
