ok, i have pictures to post up but i don't have them now. will just have to post them up later then. *sigh* hold on guys, the visual aides will be forthcoming.

right now i sit here in the palace green computer lab, i use the word for lack of better expression, and rack my brains for the events in the week gone past. eventful or otherwise.

friday was nothing special, except for the fact that we went for karan's houseparty in her lovely house up gilesgate. honestly i was quite impressed with the sheer vastness of the property, and the fact that all the rooms are ensuite (yes! ensuite!) and other luxuries of the sort that are provided. not to mention that chris was really drunk and my housemates met some nice people *cough*superman*cough* among others which helped to drag the time and we stumbled out into the street way past one in the morning.

to karan: nice place you got there! and the party wasn't bad either -- thanks for a lovely time!

on saturday, there was no rest for the wicked, and i woke bright and early to hear the bluebirds chirping and the sun shining through my window. i wish! more like i woke up wondering why the heck is it so cold? and looking at the gathering storm clouds on the horizon. despite all these signs though, i got up and walked out the door without my umbrella, in a stroke of genius brain activity, and trudged up to the train station with faiza, all kitted out for a day in york.

rainy day aside though, york is a wonderful place to behold. not to mention that a few people i know are from york as well. :) the quaintness of the town and the overall rustic appearance of the town from every aspect of the high street to the back alleys made me feel like i was stuck in a harry potter film that i didn't want to get out of. not to say that durham isn't like that of course, but still, you know what they say, new broom sweep clean and all that, so it was a lovely experience pounding the cobbled pavements there for the day.

the not-so-good aspects though, was the fact that the uni itself (we were there to help fay set up her new place at uni) is miles from the train station, and set apart from the rest of the town, campus style. we had to commute via bus everytime we wanted to get off campus, and of course, the bus took a lifetime and a half to arrive even though the bus schedule clearly stated once every 15 minutes. this wasn't any different when it came time to leave at the end of the day, and faz and i waited there at the blimmin' bus stop in the cold for close to an hour before there was any sign of a rectangular, four-wheeled multiple person carrying vehicle. in the meantime though, it was good because we got to view the uni-of-york-ites in their natural habitat, and it was quite interesting to note the similarities and differences between the people at durham and the people at york. i'll save you the gory details, but faz will understand what i mean. *haha*

it was a life-changing two hours because we realised how much we take for granted here at uni, most importantly the fact that everywhere is within walking distance. the stark reality that i haven't actually taken the bus since i got here in durham was particularly shocking. but anyway, it was an eye opener and a new experience. all in all, york is a lovely place. i would recommend it to anyone who asks. :D

sunday was a lazy day, but i didn't get to watch the o.c.! instead i was at the supermarket, looking at the aisle for washing powder pellets. yes, the joys of owning your own house. ok, so maybe i don't own it, it's just a temporary transfer of property rights not amounting to ownership, but still, it seems like we've all put a bit of our heart and soul into the house as it is. not to mention that we fell in love with it the minute we clocked it somewhere at the beginning of this year. ah, lovely.

my parents are in hongkong now. hope everything is fine with them!

and now, i get ready to go out and face another week with a smile.
