this is the calm before the storm.

lengthy, introspective blogposts mostly manifest themselves on the eve of big exams or the date before essays are due. now is one of those times. there's been nothing pooling in the eddies of my mind just at the moment save for whether i'll be able to get in touch with the post office to find out about my parcel tomorrow, and that isn't particularly healthy for my essay, which currently stands at 800 words. plus.

discount the fact that the weather is bleak and cold and i can't wait to get on that jet plane and not know when i'll be back again (well, 15th january actually). so you can see that my mood isn't the perkiest of them all.

friday was a nice day. went for the last planet (despite the fact that i said that i would never, ever go for one of those doohickeys), actually enjoyed (and sang to) some of the anthems, getting the full vip treatment by sitting with the djs on the amps. that's well cool, that is. after that, the cool and funky people were invited round to ours for drinks, thanks to renu's bright mind that spirited up the idea.

i leave for hongkong in 4 days. it feels surreal because i'm going somewhere totally new to plant my roots, and right now i feel, even before i step into the airport, that as i transit between airports and come to terms with calling a foreign place 'home', that i'll miss my hometown, no matter how many times i say that i never will.

for some strange reason i actually like what's been going on here in good ol' durham. i like knowing that my blu-tac star is still above the dj table.
