i do not enjoy having to read unhappy news, and one of nat 'my econs brother who calls me a chinchilla' ho's blog posts made my neurons rub together even more than they already do.

one of my schoolmates, alfian, passed away in an bike accident recently.

i didn't know the guy personally, neither did i know very much about him, which may seem superficial to people reading this now, but still -- it is shocking to read that someone you know has passed away. the very fact that i saw him in the flesh a mere three years ago makes him more than just a newspaper report.

it reminds me, once again, of the frailty of life, and how easily that thread is broken. we tread the thin line between life and death with every sunrise God gives us, and somehow neglect to treasure all the blessings that come our way. too easily we can overstep that line, with too many things left undone.

those who knew alfian will remember him as he was, and maybe his passing will cause others to greater appreciate the time they've been given.
