right now the sunlight streams in as i sit by the computer, hitting the upturned surface of one of the many cds lying around the place. this one is placed on top of the cpu. the light reflects and separates, forming a mini-rainbow on the wall, softly draped by the beams that infiltrate from the tiny sunroof, a chunk of light in the sloping ceiling.

i have two screens in front of me; one, the computer screen, and the other, a television screen that is some twenty centimetres from my face. in its empty countenance staring back at me, i peer in and see a reflection of Boy as he sleeps, all tucked in and rolled up in his duvet, oblivious to the sounds i am making with the jalopy keyboard which seem like the destruction of giant christmas crackers to me.

it is when he is asleep that he looks most at peace. the ground shivers as traffic passes by the main road. i reach for a pin to put my hair up. he is unperturbed, and yawns slightly as he snuggles in a little bit more. i can't help but smile, seeing this subtle innocence shining through, and, almost by reflex, turn away to hide the soppy grin on my face, even though no one is around to see.

just like the sunlight, he makes my world that much brighter.
