the other day the glowstick gang went for an outing to the seaside at marsden. i sell glowsticks along with one of my best friends at a weekly event called planet of sound for my boyfriend and his colleague. it was all in good fun, and we decided to leg it down to the beach just to get some fresh air and some downtime out of durham. extremely pic-heavy, so not for those on dial-up! :)

random pictures of the seaside. the breeze was awesome. and check out my wee bunny in the bottom right hand corner! i made him myself one day while sitting in front of the telly. the boyfriend and i have 'adopted' him as our child now. :P

first we stopped off at tesco to get some proper barbeque grub and some disposable barbeque grilles. i didn't take pictures, but the amount of meat we bought was enough to feed a small army. anyway, dramatis personae are as follows:

from left to right: the glowstick gang - kris kay superstar DJ, the teowlet, irish & imran

kris practises the sultry look.

aaaaand, the seaside! apparently, the cliffs are a notorious suicide spot. therefore, dave and faiza had to take the piss. that's their attempts at desperation. the huge rock is called marsden rock, and is what's left of a headland that has since been eroded away by the incoming waves, forming a lovely pebble bay, which is where we set up our bbq spot.

kris looking quite the happy hamster as he got out of the car. what we didn't realise was that we'd have to climb down this flight of rickety looking steps in order to get to the shore. the distance doesn't really come out fully in the picture, but damn, it was high.

i love this boy more than words can say. he is the most wonderful thing that's ever happened to me.

dave's antics: mmm, this coke is tast-eh! // let's go wade in the freezing cold sea!! // aaah, tired now. // heeey, let's go climb that rock!

would make a great 'wish you were here' postcard. the obligatory imran-teow picture. :)

that's me in the lower left hand corner explaining the formation of sedementary rock, and pointing out the layers that have been tightly compressed together etc. etc. faiza and i have an in joke where we host a geography show and explain various random landforms. she's jessica the host, and i'm dr. fellon, the geography expert. yes yes, i am a geography nerd. it's my lifelong passion. that said, i got the obligatory paparazzi shot in the bottom right hand corner thanks to faiza. yikes, i do look a bit massive in that picture though.

what did i say about irish's plan to climb the rock? well, the men did (if you look closely you'll spot a purple blob and a black blob with white limbs in the second picture), true hunter-gatherers that they are. sadly, they brought back nothing but sea spray and valiant accounts of playing with mini crabs in rock pools.

for some reason i remind myself of a tadpole in the first picture. but in other news, i loved the blue, blue sky. we sat there for hours just taking in the sunshine. as a result, today i am slowly but surely getting a tan.

the many faces of irish mcdave: (from top left)
amused, when stones are chucked on your head
pensive and pouting, with faiza in the background
head shot, which is going on his model card

and a random shot of the tower that has an equally rickety elevator that we only realised we could have taken instead of scaling the stairs of death, after we got down to the seaside.

more gratitious pictures of the seaside and my friends. and their feet.

wee bunny lovers, this is for you! that's him starring in his very own photographs posing with me and kris. look out for more wee bunny pictures soon, because he's going places!

the reason why i am not pictured cooking in any way shape or form is because when i was cooking, no one took any pictures of me, that is all. nevertheless, i got a good few pictures of everyone else, and if you look closely, you'll spy the equivalent of 4 cows' worth of meat we got. in the end we had to bin about a quarter of what we bought simply because everyone was too full to move. we were lying there thinking that if the tide were to come in now, we'd be dead purely because everyone had literally eaten half a cow, or part thereof. :S

that said, many happy friendships were formed, and faiza and dave decided to be television chefs. this is the initial pilot shot for their new show titled "cooking with dave and faiza", pitched to rival the ever-popular "ready steady cook" on itv. as usual, the green peppers won.

random shots of while we were lolling about on the beach, contented as seals. and to top it all off, we brought chocolates too! as if all that meat wasn't enough!

three cheers for friendship. this girl has stuck by me through the ups and downs, and uni life would have been so much duller without you. you're ace mc fiza, and don't you forget that. :)

and so ends the chapter of our day at the seaside. i hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. :D
